Hope for Haiti

1st March 2010

WGS students have used their musical talents to put on a charity concert in support of the victims of the Haiti earthquake.

The Hope for Haiti concert which took place last Friday (26th February) in the Hutton Theatre featured performances from a range of vocalists and groups all made up of students and teachers. It is hoped ticket sales plus money raised from raffling items such as a signed Wolves football, an autographed Chelsea shirt and House of Fraser beauty products will raise in excess of £1000 for the victims of the earthquake.

Music teacher, Nikki Guidotti who helped organise the event has been amazed at students’ commitment and willingness to 'do their bit'.

"As soon as news broke about the tragedy, students were coming in to school asking what they could do. And with such a strong musical tradition here at WGS, a concert seemed the ideal way to show our support. The students really have worked hard, often in their own time to make this concert happen."

As well as rock and pop performances, the Hope for Haiti concert will also feature songs from the recent senior school production of Godspell which played to five sell out nights at the Hutton theatre earlier this month.
