What we offer

WGS is a selective, coeducational; socially diverse day school and its curriculum offers a broad, balanced syllabus to students with access to linguistic, mathematical, scientific, technological, social, physical and creative areas.

Work in subjects often goes well beyond what is required  in examinations, because as a school we want to provide our students with the knowledge and skills to take their studies further, not simply to pass exams.

A progressive curriculum

The curriculum at Wolverhampton Grammar School is specifically designed to provide as full and broad an academic experience as possible. Each subject area is designed to offer continuity and progression of learning.

As students progress through the school, there are increasing opportunities for them to follow their own interests and WGS has a wide range of extra curricular activities which support skills learned in the classroom or help develop wider interests. The school does not take part in SATs, though parents of Big Six students may request that their children be tested at Key Stage 2.

PSHE
Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) and Citizenship are taught throughout the lower and middle schools. The course is designed to help students to lead confident, healthy responsible lives in a democratic and tolerant society and to reflect on their own experiences and development whilst showing understanding of others.
