Year 9+

Entrance at 13+ & 14+ (Year 9 & 10)
A number of children join us in Year 9.  At this age the form groups created in Year 7 are redistributed, so those who join us don't have to break into established peer groups.

In Year 9, boys and girls continue to follow a broad-based curriculum, though some mini-options start to appear in creative subjects and Italian is added as an optional third modern language.  In some subjects, students start work on GCSE courses, particularly in the sciences which are taught separately as chemistry, biology and physics throughout the 11 to 16 age-range.

OpAL (Opportunities through Assisted Learning) is our specialist programme aimed at supporting bright students with dyslexia.

There are two routes of entry into the OpAL Programme: by our standard entrance test or by interview. Once you have registered your child for the OpAL Programme, the Programme Director will discuss with you the options of sitting the entrance test or being assessed for admission by interview. In accordance with SENDA (2001), all candidates assessed as dyslexic receive extra time in the entrance examination. For more information on the OpAL Programme, please visit our OpAL page.
