CITY CHAMPIONS x 2!

Two finals in the space of a week have resulted in WGS footballers' being crowned Wolverhampton City champions!

The U12s who played their final at the home of Wolverhampton Casuals FC last Thursday, came from behind to beat St Peter’s 2 – 1, whilst the First XI also beat St Peter's - by the same score - in a hard fought game played at AFC Wulfrunians.

A goal each from James Tatton and George Bradley in the last 15 minutes of the U12s match, turned around a 0-1 deficit and ensured WGS captain, Alley Carey was able to lift the cup on behalf of his ecstatic team mates.

With all the goals coming in the second half of the U19s match, a Dan Powner penalty finally sealed victory for the First XI after Nick Bandurak's opening goal had been cancelled out by a St Peter's strike midway through the half.

The U19s victory is particularly significant as it is the third year in a row WGS has won the Alan Thompson Memorial Trophy and fittingly this year, Alan's widow, Diane Thompson was there to present the trophy to WGS's winning captain.

Full match reports will soon be posted, however to see images of our winning teams, go to Gallery.
