Wearing the uniform with pride

We want our students to wear their WGS school uniform with pride and see it as a symbol of belonging to our school community.

We expect all our students to be smartly dressed and understand that by wearing our uniform they are representing the school as well as themselves.

Wolverhampton Grammar School has an on-line uniform shop which is run by our uniform suppliers: Direct Clothing Company. Contact the shop for further information. Families may purchase online and have their purchased goods delivered directly to their door or collect from School Reception.

Please refer to the information below before purchasing school uniform. The WGS Friends (PTA) also run a pre-loved uniform shop, please email the PTA if you would like to look at any second-hand uniform.

The school uniform is compulsory and every item should be named.

Uniform

Junior School

In Reception our students wear a WGS tracksuit to school, this allows them to be comfortable but smartly dressed. From Year 1 to Year 6 there is a Junior School uniform. As the children progress up to the Senior School there will be the addition of a school blazer and tie, and the Junior School tartan skirt changes to a plain grey skirt.

Uniform

Senior & Sixth Form

Students in Years 7 to 11 wear the WGS School Uniform. In Year 8 students are presented with their House tie at the House Reveal, this replaces their red school tie worn in the first year of Senior School. As students move into the Sixth Form the school uniform changes to smart business attire and House ties continue to be worn by both boys and girls.

Sports Kit

The WGS Sports kit is supplied by Premier Sports in Wolverhampton.

Children thrive under our exceptional pastoral care, award-winning leadership and outstanding learning opportunities. Class sizes are deliberately small and classrooms are bright and airy, creating a wonderful learning environment for all.

Ages 11 – 16

Many new students join us in Year 7 and benefit from a full induction ahead of starting. The House system from Year 8 upwards is an extension of our pastoral care and central to school life. Our students consistently perform well in GCSE and A Level examinations and we are extremely proud of them.

Ages 16 – 18

As young adults, our Sixth Formers enjoy studying and socialising in their own Sixth Form Centre, bringing with it greater independence, support from the Sixth Form team and House tutors, the advantages of small teaching groups, and the opportunity to take on leadership and volunteer roles.
