72% A* to B grades at A level (2026)
We are proud to celebrate yet another year of exceptional A-Level results, with students once again securing places at leading universities and degree apprenticeships across the UK.
Wolverhampton Grammar School are celebrating outstanding success, with 72% achieving A*–B grades at A-level with an astonishing 17% awarded the highest A* grade.
With a school-wide culture of transforming lives as well as minds, students at WGS have achieved grades that reflect both their hard work and the school’s commitment to academic excellence. An impressive 17% of the 2026 A Level cohort were awarded with an A*.
Over 72% of all grades awarded were A* to B, reinforcing the school’s position as one of the region’s leading independent Sixth Forms.
Many students have confirmed offers from prestigious institutions including Cambridge, Russell Group universities on competitive courses such as Medicine, Law and Engineering.
All students who pursued Cambridge Technical qualifications in Sport and Physical Education or Information Technology excelled, with 90% of students gaining at least a distinction.

- 100% pass rate across all A Level and Cambridge Technical Qualifications
- 45% A* and A awarded at A Level
- 72% A* – B awarded at A Level
- 90% of students gained a Distinction or higher in the Cambridge Technicals
- 17% students achieved straight A/A*s at A Level

WGS students celebrate 97% 9-4 GCSE results (2026)
Reflecting on the performance of this year’s cohort, Acting Head, Mr Peters, commented:
What a wonderful sight it was this morning to see our Year 11 students celebrating as they discovered just how well they had done. It is a real privilege to share in such a moment and hugely rewarding to see such a stellar set of results from this brilliant year group.
Their achievements are thoroughly deserved. They are a talented cohort who have worked incredibly hard. We are enormously grateful to our expert and dedicated staff for their support, as well as to our parents for the encouragement they have given their children throughout their time at WGS. Above all, we are immensely proud of our students and look forward to seeing them take their next steps.
