WGS students celebrating We Are WGS Day 2026

We Are WGS Day 2026 – Celebrating our community

On Thursday 9th July, our school came together to celebrate one of the highlights of the year – We Are WGS Day. It was a fantastic celebration of our wonderfully community, bringing together students, staff, parents and Friends for a day filled with culture, creativity, sport and entertainment.

We Are WGS Day is a vibrant celebration that honours the unique identities, cultures and experiences that make our school such a special place. It is an opportunity for everyone to celebrate who they are, fostering a genuine sense of pride, belonging and inclusion across our community.

Students and staff embraced the spirit of the day by wearing clothing that reflected their own identity and interests. From traditional cultural dress to sportswear representing favourite hobbies and activities, every outfit told a story. It was wonderful to see so many students and staff expressing themselves with confidence and pride.

There was something for everyone to enjoy throughout the day. Our celebrations featured energetic performances from the Morris Dancers, inspiring workshops delivered by Show Racism the Red Card, exciting dance activities, facepainting, and fast-paced Panna football that proved hugely popular with students. Giant pétanque games and inflatables provided fun for all, while our lunchtime BBQ gave everyone the chance to come together and enjoy the celebrations.

The afternoon continued with outstanding entertainment, including a fantastic live performance from Joel Foster and a colourful, high-energy Bollywood show.

Alongside the celebrations, students had the opportunity to set up interactive stalls and activities, which raised an incredible £1,500 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital, a fantastic achievement made possible through the kindness of everyone involved. Thank you to all who donated and supported this important cause.

A huge thank you goes to every student, member of staff, parent, volunteer and Friends committee who helped make the day such a success.

We Are WGS Day reminds us that our differences are our strength. By celebrating the many cultures, backgrounds, talents and passions within our school, we continue to build a community where everyone feels valued, respected and included.

We are already looking forward to next year’s celebration!
