Our MIssion

Wolverhampton Grammar School is an extraordinary school. You just have to step through the doors to feel a tangible warmth – a warmth created by people who embody community.

We will give your child the best opportunity to leave our school with excellent exam results. But, what we offer, is much more.

How do we achieve this? We provide an education as individual as your child, within an environment and community like no other. As one of the oldest schools in the country, we’ve been doing just that for over 500 years.

Our highly skilled staff help us fulfill this mission and our students go on to achieve great things. We work with students to ensure their curriculum is right for them. We can do this because of our expert staff, small class sizes, flexibility within our academic structures and because we are leaders in the use of technology – both as a teaching aid and as a way of supporting the students in our care.

We know that a challenging education requires a supportive, caring environment as well as a blend of skills and a mind-set that embraces diversity and difference. Pastoral Care at Wolverhampton Grammar School is unique and unmatched.

We are a busy, happy and successful community with young people, their learning, development and welfare at the heart of everything we do.

We are excellent

National award-winning and judged “Excellent” in all areas by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), Wolverhampton Grammar School is the top Independent School in Wolverhampton and the Independent School of choice for parents who want approachability and a human dimension to education.

We are proud to be one of the oldest schools in the country but forward-looking in our approach.

Large enough to be able to offer an experience like no other and yet personal enough to adapt our approach to suit the ambitions and interests of your child.

We provide this experience to boys and girls from Reception through to Year 13 (ages 4 – 18) across our Junior School, Senior School and Sixth Form and our students come from all kinds of backgrounds and cultures.

Founded in 1512, the experiences you will have at Wolverhampton Grammar School and the friendships you will make will last a lifetime. For us, great education is more than academic achievement. We nurture our students to understand how to exist in this, their world with confidence. That we can all make a difference.

We are proud to be one of the oldest schools in the country but forward-looking in our approach.

Children thrive under our exceptional pastoral care, award-winning leadership and outstanding learning opportunities. Class sizes are deliberately small and classrooms are bright and airy, creating a wonderful learning environment for all.

Ages 11 – 16

Many new students join us in Year 7 and benefit from a full induction ahead of starting. The House system from Year 8 upwards is an extension of our pastoral care and central to school life. Our students consistently perform well in GCSE and A Level examinations and we are extremely proud of them.

Ages 16 – 18

As young adults, our Sixth Formers enjoy studying and socialising in their own Sixth Form Centre, bringing with it greater independence, support from the Sixth Form team and House tutors, the advantages of small teaching groups, and the opportunity to take on leadership and volunteer roles.
