At Wolverhampton Grammar School, we believe in giving students opportunities to apply their learning in real-world contexts. Our recent Year 8 Business & Enterprise Day did exactly that, challenging students to think creatively, work collaboratively and develop the skills needed to turn an idea into a viable business concept.
Our Year 8 students were tasked with stepping into the roles of a real business team. Working in groups, each student took on a specific responsibility within their company structure — Team Leader, Finance Officer, Marketing Manager, Sustainability Officer and Brand Designer. Together, they were set the challenge of developing and marketing an innovative new aircraft concept.

Throughout the day, teams worked collaboratively to design their aircraft and business model, consider the financial viability of their idea, explore sustainability, develop a strong brand identity and create a marketing strategy to bring their concept to life.
Each team then presented their idea within their Houses, with the strongest teams progressing to a Grand Finale. Here, they pitched their aircraft concept in front of our A-Level Business students, our Old Wulfrunians (OWs) and Mr Sohal, Director of Wolverhampton Grammar School. The standard of ideas, creativity and teamwork on display was exceptional, and it was fantastic to see students thinking like entrepreneurs, problem-solving and presenting with confidence.
The event was led by Head of Business Studies and Economics, Mrs Pataki, alongside Mrs Hind, who created a brilliant opportunity for students to experience how business ideas move from concept to pitch.
Congratulations to the winning teams, and well done to all of our Year 8 students for the enthusiasm and professionalism they showed throughout the day.
