Overview


Wolverhampton Grammar School provides an outstanding education for children attending the Junior School, Senior School and Sixth Form.

We consistently achieve outstanding GCSE and A Level results, provide the largest range of extra-curricular activities of any independent school in the area, and continue to be the independent school of choice for parents of children from across the Wolverhampton, Shropshire and Staffordshire areas.

The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) is the body approved by the Secretary of State for the purpose of inspecting schools which are, or whose heads are, in membership of the associations which form the Independent Schools Council (ISC).

Wolverhampton Grammar School is a HMC school. Heads are elected to HMC based on the quality of their schools, which are large enough to offer wide diversity to pupils, have sixth forms and achieve high academic attainment in public examinations.

We are proud to be one of the oldest schools in the country but forward-looking in our approach.

Children thrive under our exceptional pastoral care, award-winning leadership and outstanding learning opportunities. Class sizes are deliberately small and classrooms are bright and airy, creating a wonderful learning environment for all.

Ages 11 – 16

Many new students join us in Year 7 and benefit from a full induction ahead of starting. The House system from Year 8 upwards is an extension of our pastoral care and central to school life. Our students consistently perform well in GCSE and A Level examinations and we are extremely proud of them.

Ages 16 – 18

As young adults, our Sixth Formers enjoy studying and socialising in their own Sixth Form Centre, bringing with it greater independence, support from the Sixth Form team and House tutors, the advantages of small teaching groups, and the opportunity to take on leadership and volunteer roles.
