Welcome to our Junior & Infants School
Whilst the academic focus of the Sixth Form is still incredibly important, we also encourage our students to take an active part in our vast number of clubs and societies. There really is something to suit everyone!
Sixth Formers can also work with staff to start up new clubs or societies as well as getting involved with exhibitions in the Viner Gallery and productions in our industry standard Hutton Theatre.
Students are involved in many clubs and subject-based societies including Chemistry Club, Coding Club, Eco Council, Diversity Champions, Tabletop Gaming, Student Voice and many more. Lunchtime Pudding Lectures are another tenet of Sixth Form life and give students the opportunity to present and take questions on a variety of topics beyond their Sixth Form studies. Aptly named, there is always cake served for those attending and presenting!
Within the School’s nurturing environment I was provided with countless opportunities and support to pursue the career of my choice.
Callum Singh Grewal, Junior doctor (OW 2016)
My favourite thing about WGS is the community, this school has felt like a second family to me. The students and teachers treat each other with kindness and respect.
Nimrah, Lower Sixth Student

Leadership
There are also opportunities to step up into Prefect leadership roles such as House Captains and Heads of School.
Within the House system Sixth Formers act as mentors to younger students and take part in charity fundraising and community activities. Sport, Music, volunteering and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award are all accessible to our Sixth Formers.
ThinkTank
WGS Thinktank is an enrichment programme which recognises students’ skills in the three areas of Academics, Leadership and Philanthropy.
On entering the Sixth Form, students start on the Bronze award with the aim to complete this by the end of the Spring term. The Silver award target completion date would be the end of the Autumn term after entering Upper Sixth. Students have the option to progress to Gold and complete this before the end their time in Sixth Form.
Students completing the ThinkTank enrichment not only feel more fulfilled but they can also gain valuable experience to include on their personal statements for university applications or to talk about in future interviews and job applications.

Sports Tours & International Trips
Wolverhampton Grammar School runs international trips and sports tours every year that are open to Sixth Formers as well as other year groups.
Recently our Sixth Form Scientists enjoyed a trip to South Africa, a French skiing trip and a trip to Iceland to see the wonders of the Northern Lights.
